Stories have been finding their way to me since I was a teenager. English was always where I felt most at home, and I spent years dreaming of writing fantasy and ghost stories—of creating mysterious worlds where ordinary people stumble into something extraordinary.

Life took me in another direction first. I built a long career in the culinary world and eventually opened my own restaurant, creating dishes and experiences that brought people together. But the dream of becoming an author never disappeared. After selling my restaurant, I made the difficult and admittedly risky decision to leave that career behind, take creative writing classes, and finally pursue the life I had imagined since I was young.

Storytelling turned out not to be so different from cooking. Both begin with an idea, grow through experimentation, and, when everything comes together, create an experience people can lose themselves in.

I’m Amanda Navarra, writing as AJ Navarra. My published Scions of Evermere trilogy introduces younger readers to a world of ancient powers, hidden realms, unlikely heroes, and choices that shape destinies. My writing spans middle-grade fantasy, young adult adventures, and adult gothic fiction, but at the heart of every story is my fascination with the extraordinary hiding within the ordinary.
